[HatchedDesignForum] 'Tis the Season

 

I uploaded photos of my project for 'Tis the Season'. As I am from the wonderfully warm(hot) northern parts of South Africa I decided not to create a traditional tabletopper with snow/poinsettia/Holly etc. but rather create a topper that is symbolic of this time of the year in Africa - wild and delicate creatures in vivid colours! I used the gorgeous Applique Butterflies for my tabletopper and found some complementing fabric that really brightened up my project. I made the topper with snowballblocks and added a great butterlyprint around that and finished it all off with a matching border fabric. For my onament I used the lovely Allsorts Lace Butterflies in the same colours that I used in my applique Butterflies. I fixed them to my tabletoptreeoranment and think they will really shine and look like they are ready to dart off into the summerheat to look for their own Christmasdinner.

I really loved doing this project - it was my first snowball quilted project and all the butterflies stitched out beautifully. As usual all the designs were created with great care and are simply beautiful. I have been looking forward to stitching these designs for a long time and now they will have a place of pride on my Seasonal table.

Each and every contestant has created something special and we are really going to be spoilt for choice. It is going to be an impossible task to choose. I would also like to thank everyone that has a part in these wonderful contests - you really make life worthwhile.
