[Finding_Designs] AD: Songbird Designs - NEW PROJECT AND MONOGRAM FONT1

Tonight I just added a new carry all pattern project and beautiful monogram
font. This carry all will be great to make and take your supplies and tools
to your sewing/quilting/embroidery classes. There are two pockets on each
side that will hold papers/books up to 8-1/2 x 11 size. On one side, there
is a pocket for a small ruler and or pens/markers. Instructions are in PDF
format and include lots of photos to help guide you in creating this tote.

The monogram font was created to decorate the carry all, but will be great
on towels or pillows – or anything you would like to embellish with a
monogram. You can change the color to match your décor! Both the carry all
and the monogram font will make great gift items for all your
quilting/sewing friends or for monogrammed towels for showers, birthday,
Christmas, etc!!

Please stop by and take a look: http://songbirddesigns.net/id140.html

I hope you all have a very blessed week!!

[HatchedDesignForum] 'Tis the Season

I finally made it! I didn't think I would. I actually finished my entry for the 'Tis the Season Challenge Saturday night at 9:20 PM, exactly when we lost power from a very powerful Nor'easter. We only had 4 inches of snow, but it was very heavy wet snow. Trees were falling all around us. Our neighborhood looked like the center of a battle zone! We didn't get power back until 6:00 PM tonight, Monday, the 31st. School was canceled today and will be again tomorrow. Trick or Treat has been canceled or postponed in many of the surrounding communities. We were on the low side for amounts, many nearby communities received upwards of 10 inches of this heavy wet white stuff.

There are 15 of us for Christmas, so we have a buffet. My entry is a table topper which can double as a large hot plate for the meat platter. It is 24 inches in diameter. I used Little Christmas Monogram L in the center. On the black, I used Little Christmas Snowflake 1. On the red, I used Christmas scrolls 10. I made a smaller matching hot plate, about 16 inches in diameter, and a hot knob insulated cover, which can fit on most round knobs. I used Christmas Florals 2022 and Little Christmas Snowflake 1 on the hot plate and Little Christmas Snowflake 1 on the top of the Hot Knob insulated cover.

Thank you Santi for the little designs, to all the Hatched/All Sorts staff for their generosity, the moderators for their untiring work, and all of you who will take the time to look at all the creations and vote for your favorite.

Re: [Finding_Designs] Help!!!

Judy,
You could put solvy on top and bottom of the area and then stitch it.  When you are done remove the solvy and the stitched will stay in.

It is the designers job to prevent scope creep and to alert the client when it happens. I promises you, that if you submit a new invoice with the changes or additions they want to sneak in they will either gladly pay it because they truly want a good job done or they will not ask you to do something outside the initial project scope again. The only reason you should accept scope creep is if you did not make the proper definitions about the work you would do in the initial brief!

The easiest way to fire a bad client is to make sure it is in the contract they sign with you when you start the work. DO NOT tolerate a rude or abusive client but by the same token don't be rude or abusive when you kindly fire them just contact your lawyer.

Hmmm...I was strung along for 3 - 4 weeks awaiting product descriptions, each week I was given another, "I'm sorry", and a new promise. At the end of that, I received hand-written notes which on examination were simply the text from existing brochures. The average American worker is phoning it in, at best...a month delay for nothing.

Arguably this is my fault. I should have simply used the brochure text to start. The illusion that their mgrs would produce quality work if given a bit of time had less substance than fog.

That said, scope creep is inevitable. Contracts can help, but there will always be creep.

But how do you protect yourself from true penny-pincher, someone who has made a life of squeezing every time? Such a person who is looking for every petty angle, killing a project over pennies and therefore losing dollars? Sigh.

I don't work for people who yell at me. That has no place in a professional environment. If someone does that to you, inform them it is unacceptable and leave. If they do it the next time, tell them if they continue you will leave forever. Then do.

As long as we put up with such behavior it continues.

Bill

Maybe not for this thread, but how do you fire an abusive website

design/development client? Especially if it's close to delivery date, and is

it even ethical to just drop them? I feel like my stress levels are so high

from being yelled at and being forced to make changes to the site structure

this late in the game, that the money just isn't worth it anymore.

I can't stand to think of letting anyone down, but I'm thinking I should

man-up and dump the job.

Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue?
