[web-design] tips for css and laying out content

hi.
doing a contact call centre for my major project for my website course
from http://wsi.tafe.ns.edu.au
and now.
three forms.
one for login, and has information like user id, user name, password.
a contact form, to enter contact id, name, address, town, postcode,
state, phone, mobile phone,e-mail, etc.
and the third form, is to enter in events, like event id, notes, date
entered and time entered.
will be using php, and wamp server and my sql database.
so any tips.
for laying out css, and also what colors, how to layout it out.
and do i have headings, or just a list to populate the list of users,
people who logged in, and also people who entered envent details.
would be appreciative for your help.
not to do it for me.
i have php code, for reference.
so do i just modify my code, as a template, or search for code samples.
thanks.
marvin.
