Thank you all for sharing information with this list. I have checked out
the list and I also see that Newtown is covered in a wonderful blizzard of
snowflakes from around the world! It's awesome to think that our little
corner of the internet has responded with such a zeal! I know the families
and friends of those lost on that horrific day will remember the kindness of
our sewist from around the world!

In answer to all of your questions and comments, I have received the
following from Kim Williams, after I asked for verification of the facts. It
seems the embroidery world has once again responded generously to a cry for
help, and we seem to have buried Newtown in a blizzard!!!!!!
In view of the information received, I would suggest you don't mail
anymore snowflakes and use them to make a doily, applique onto shirts, napkins,
tablecloths, etc. The nice thing about lace snowflakes is that you can use
them in so many different ways, fortunately. You can even save them for
Christmas Tree decorations.
I think I will make a table runner out of mine. I have enough. Then I
will give it to one of my DIL's. It will make a nice gift, and most people
won't even realize they are snowflakes as the lace is so pretty and all the
same color.
I am extremely proud of the embroiderers in this Country and those beyond
our shores. If there is ever a need, we respond! And Geesh!!!! Did we
EVER respond! LOL
Following is the letter with the information I received from Kim:
"The link I included http://ctpta.org/About-CT-PTA/SANDY-HOOK-FUND.html
is from the CT PTA - the group that had originally asked for snowflakes.
On that page they state that they have closed for snowflake donations for
Newtown.
Here is another link to the local Newtown Bee newspaper also asking people
to stop sending snowflakes http://newtownbee.com/2012-12-27__14-56-05
I think is was a great idea but they had no idea how popular the idea
would be. Over a tractor trailer full is way too many for anyone to have to
sort through."
Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen for your hard efforts in order to support
this call for help from a town that was subjected to one of the worst
tragedies you can imagine. We have answered the call and can be proud of our
work!
