Re: [web-design] Logo Design

Interesting idea about trucking companies Bill.
Very helpful for me as I do design logos for clients also.

Some logos are very simple. Consider IBM's...usually printed in a light blue, but also looks good as a shade of gray. So I second this advice...a logo must also devolve nicely to black and white or shades of gray. Of course, established companies usually already have their logo.

Watch 18-wheelers as they go by. Study what is on their side. Can you tell what the company is, what business they are in? Does an accompanying motto clarify further? IT companies BTW usually do a really bad job of this...interestingly, trucking companies usually do a very good job.

Best,

Bill

My personal and professional opinion is that a logo and branding are too important to be treated as casually as shopping for a DIY logo design company, if that is what you are referring to. While I realize that not everyone can afford to hire David Airey, I would think that a business would recognize the importance of spending some money and hiring a professional logo designer who will spend the TIME necessary to study the client's business and come up with the perfect logo that captures the essence of the company and its goals. That you cannot find in an online logo service.

Just my two for the day; sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I need to get a logo designed for a company. Has anyone used one of the online logo design companies? There are a ton of them so I would like a recommendation if anyone has one rather than randomly picking one.

Thanks,

Chris
