What I have done is I put the platic you can by at WalMart -and JoAnns in the by yard fabrics between the layers next to the bottom of the coaster. I would also slow down how fast I am sewing and use a sharp, small jean needle. Just remember it will not be completely waterproof though. The other thing I started doing is adding felted wool instead of batting because it is more dense. I hope this helps you out.

Help, what can you use when making coasters for glasses to sit on to make them water proof ?
