RE: [web-design] how do you fire an abusive client?

Sorry for the double post. OWA issues.

I also think that just bailing on a client because they can be unpleasant isn't very professional. A professional has to deal with all kinds of people. all personality types; the client may have his or her own personal issues that they aren't articulating to you (and if it's personal, it's none of your business anyway). But personal problems don't give people a license to behave like little beasts. I'm just saying that a certain amount of stress comes with this job -- and with most jobs. I am a legal secretary on a swing shift and believe me, you haven't seen high strung and demanding until you've dealt with a litigator on the eve of trial.

So maybe I've grown a thick hide over the years. If what you are complaining about is scope creep, then you need to nip that in the bud. Put your foot down that new change or work is outside the scope of this project. It HELPS to have a soilid contract outlining all that, and a project management system to help shepherd the client through the entire process, including signoffs. When a client signs off on our design, he can't come back later and want changes to it, without an additional cost.

It all falls under business management and most creatives don't care two hoots about business or administrative tasks, but they are a necessary evil if you are a freelancer or own your own studio.

Maybe not for this thread, but how do you fire an abusive website
design/development client? Especially if it's close to delivery date, and is
it even ethical to just drop them? I feel like my stress levels are so high
from being yelled at and being forced to make changes to the site structure
this late in the game, that the money just isn't worth it anymore.
I can't stand to think of letting anyone down, but I'm thinking I should
man-up and dump the job.
Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue?
