Judy,
You could put solvy on top and bottom of the area and then stitch it.  When you are done remove the solvy and the stitched will stay in.

There is a lady that wants me to put names on a very dainty knit like white baby blanket. Any ideas on how best to do this. I no I would have to use a topping because it is a kind of loose weave. I am so afraid of ruining it. Please help.
