Hi Ann. Here's some thoughts/suggestions.
Did you pre-wash the Fairy Frost fabric? This fabric is rather stiff to begin with as it has a substance adhered to the top of the fabric. Pre-washing the fabric may help let the needle penetrate easier.
What size needle did you use? For Fairy Frost, I would use a 75/11 or 80/12 embroidery needle.
What type of bobbin thread are you using? You should be using an embroidery thread in the needle (polyester or rayon, not a regular sewing thread) and bobbin embroidery thread in the bobbin. The bobbin embroidery thread should be a fine thread, thinner than the needle thread. Again, this is not regular sewing thread.
Was your tension too tight? You want the needle thread to wrap to the underside only enough to prevent the bobbin thread from showing on your project. For a column of satin stitches, adjust the bobbin tension if needed so you see the bobbin thread centered between two thin lines of needle thread.
If these conditions are met, then you may not need 2 layers of stabilizer. I have not sewn out these designs, so can't speak to the density of the designs themselves, but I know Hatched/Allsorts designs are without a doubt the best there is!! Yeah, I'm playing favorites! LOL
Hope this helps!

From: Ann I am a newbie when it comes to embroidering. I embroidered the African designs on Fairy Frost cotton fabric using 2 tear away stablizers and I had puckers around the tops of the designs. I used two different designs and both had puckers at the top. Could someone please tell me what I did wrong? I thought using 2 tearaway sheets would have prevented this. ...
