Joann's fabric are a better quality than Walmart
but I still feel that the quality of your local quilt shop is far better
than either store.
------------------------------
Many years ago I was told that the less expensive stores would have the same fabric for less than in the quilt shops as the avccepted the first and last runs of the dyes. The explanation was that even though it was the same company and same looking fabric, the quilt shops got the middle, more perfect runs. But I have seen bad runs in quilt shops as well. It sometimes takes a while to compare fabrics. Fabric shopping should be given the same time and consideration as design and clothing shopping. Take your time, do some comparisons, and then do what you think is best for you. If I am making an heirloom quilt, etc., I usually do purchase the fabric at a quilt shop. But for charity or kids quilts, I am just as happy with JoAnns and other stores.
