Re: [web-design] Would like to have a few peope do a Site Check.

Thanks Joni and Major. I am in the process now of going back and updating and validating. I used http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">. Is that what you all would recommend? I have gotten out of the loop on designing lately, so not sure what the standard is considered to be.

Joni, I will look at the paper backgrounds you mention. I have had someone else tell me the bricks were a little too much also. You are right, I am trying to achieve and "vintage" look for this page.

Thanks you two,
Eugene

Brick background works for me, but I defer to a more experienced eye. Some
things need correcting:

CSS Errors: http://jigsaw.w3
org/css-validator/validator?profile=css21&warning=0&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww
greenwoodwebdesigns
com%2Faboutgreenwood%2FHTML%2Fpostcards%2Fintrowithscroll.html

For all pages, I would check and correct any HTML coding errors. Example:
Page http://www.greenwoodwebdesigns
com/aboutgreenwood/HTML/postcards/churches.html -

line 16 column 1 - Warning: inserting implicit [ No open body tag ]
line 104 column 4 - Warning: escaping malformed URI reference [ White
space in link ]
Recommend use of %20 (space character) for the white space in "..
?subject=Questions or Comments", i.e,
"...?subject=Questions%20or%20Comments"

Validating:

Why Validate?: http://validator.w3.org/docs/why.html
CSS Validator: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
HTML Validator: http://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_uri+with_options
Unicorn - W3C's Unified Validator: http://validator.w3.org/unicorn/

I think the brick makes it very busy. To add to the vintage feel of the site
experiment with some vintage paper backgrounds. There are a few here:

http://designinstruct
com/free-resources/textures/colored-vintage-paper-texture-pack/
http://www.demilked.com/free-paper-textures-backgrounds/

Also, and this may have caused my browser to misbehave. You have a stray
closing HEAD tag after your closing HTML tag. Delete that and you're golden.
Nice site!

Hi,

Have not posted in a long time. I am trying to update a site I did a long
time ago. If someone could take a look, here is the link:

http://www.greenwoodwebdesigns
com/aboutgreenwood/HTML/postcards/introwithscroll.html

Just stick to the first page, and please click on Churches, to see if you
like the way those pages are setup.

Went with the brick background, because of the brick streets in town. Do you
like the brick background? Do you like the colors? What about the layout?
The postcards at bottom of the page?

Would really appreciate some feedback. If I get good feedback, I will finish
updating the rest of the site.

Thanks,
Eugene
