Re: [HatchedDesignForum] Re: Christmas Eve at Walmart

Bobbi - I am so sorry to hear about your loss - losing a child is so heartbreaking. I'm glad you got to speak to him briefly yesterday.

Pat - that was so nice of you to help that lady and I do hope she looks you up later and you can get to know each other better. I'm sure she felt rather hopeless waiting for her son and not knowing exactly which hotel she was in. Nothing worse than being stranded and not knowing where you are or where you should be!

I spent Christmas Eve with my daughters - we went to lunch and a friend of one of my daughter's joined us. I was staying at a hotel and the friend was going to pick me up later for church service because she lived less than a mile from where I was staying. My daughter had to leave because she had to work at her church for the 3 PM and 5 PM services. My daughter told me she and her husband were planning on spending the night at the lady's house because they didn't want her to be alone - her husband had passed away about a year ago and her Christmas last year was very tough. My daughter's husband was getting over the flu so he decided to go back home after the service. I thought that was so kind of my daughter and her husband to offer to be with her. My husband passed away over 16 years ago and my kids know how sad my first Christmas was without him and it was for them too. The friend was just so happy to have someone care about her. Since daughter's hubby went home, the three of us went to a restaurant for a quick late snack, then they dropped me off and they went to the friend's house. I was just so proud of my daughter wanting to be there to help her friend get through the holiday.
It just feels good helping someone, especially this time of year.

Thanks for sharing your story - it was heartwarming.

Taffy
