Santi has been very busy in preparing for her coming trips to the states.
You know how she is, she always wants to have new designs to share with
her ladies! I think she's done a stunning job so far this year and I'm so
happy with Liese's new designs as well. I've looked at the new designs from
Betsi and they are awesome too :) This is just a very talented family I
guess. Even if they adopted me I don't think the talent would follow LOL
OK for the new daisy designs. Keep in mind that I've digitized some
working with my own PSW software and doing my workbooks. One of the hardest
things I think there is to digitize is free standing work. You need to build
a base of thread to sew it on. I know many of you haven't stitched out a
free standing design yet and it's so simple to stitch them! Just sew your
design on some wash away and after the design is done, you just soak your
item and the wash away stabilizer just dissolves... but I'm off the subject
again!
So the first thing you do is set your base of stitches. You want a good
base so that when the design is soaked it doesn't just fall apart in the
water. The other key is to keep your embroidery soft as you go. This isn't
as easy to do as you think it is. You need to find the proper balance of
base stitches and top stitches. You need those edges to stay together
through many washings! I've looked at the photo of the new daisy designs and I
see that the edges will remain soft while holding the design together!
The next thing to see is that the 3 colors for the daisy are actually 3
different layers to it. You stitch them out separately and then stitch them
together at the center so that way you'll have the free standing part of
this design.
As Santi said this is a little out of her box but from what I can see, she
can stand on top of about any box she wants to :) These will be coming to
us soon, before she leaves for the states so it won't be too long!
